Intersectionality in Higher Education: Creating Diversity in the Classroom

In this virtual discussion, Bridging the Gap, an organization that brings scholarly inquiry into public debate as well as into foreign policy decision-making, hosted a panel discussion on Enhancing Diversity and Strengthening Inclusion in Efforts to Bridge the Academia-Policy Gap. The discussion was chaired by BtG co-director, Naaz Barma with panelists Debbi Avant, Debak Das, Jim Goldgeier, Carla Koppell, Erik Lin-Greenberg, Layna Mosley, Sara Plana, and Arturo Sotomayor. The participants discussed the impact of gender, race, national origin, and sexual orientation on their own scholarly and academic experiences, and how these intersections could--and must--be bridged to support students and peers in their individual career paths.
