Updated: Nov 23, 2021

In this virtual conversation, NYU's Office of Global Inclusion, Diversity, and Strategic Innovation (OGI) hosted Dr. Nell Painter, eminent historian and retired Professor Emerita of American History at Princeton University. The conversation was moderated by Dr. Lisa M. Coleman, SVP, Global Inclusion and Strategic Innovation, and focused on Dr. Painter's New York Time's best-selling publication, The History of White People. The History of White People explores the identity of whiteness throughout history, starting in ancient Greece, moving through the scientific racism of the 19th and 20th century, and into 21st-century America. This conversation offers historic and social context surrounding the intersecting realities of race and racism in today's society. Listen and learn more here!
